Diospyros virginiana
The common persimmon is a native fruit tree that is widely adapted. The small fruit are very sweet when ripe and a favorite of wildlife and people
There was no astringency in the fruit collected from an excellent selection in Missouri. I have a different source this year. I found a highly productive old tree in a yard that just dropped so many you couldn’t pick them all
