Mikulcik Paste Tomato

This tomato is exceptional for dryland and low fertility environments. Its a paste tomato bred in Kentucky starting two decades ago from roma type tomatoes and occasionally crossing with other types. Easily outperforms other tomatoes when the conditions get tough

I typically don’t stake them and have no problem with rot, and I usually start them from seed when the weather warms up in the spring with high yields until frost.

I trialed them in Texas this year for heat sensitivity because I haven’t noticed reduced fruit set in the hottest months. The results were promising. Tomatoes in August, something apparently difficult to achieve in Eastern Texas

If I could only grow one tomato, this would be it. A balanced flavor, on the dry side because it’s a paste but not so dry it’s unusable sliced and the most productive and dependable tomato I’ve ever grown and I’ve grown quite a few
