Corn, indian flint

This is a landrace flint corn that was acquired in Missouri sometime in the 1900s. It was found in my great grandfathers shop in a glass jar, in remarkably good condition, germinating and being stewarded by my family ever since. We haven’t found any comparable corn on the market.

Stalks average on the shorter side 5-7ft, often purple on the stalks and sheath leaves and the cobs are deep indigo to red with small amounts of white.

A very unique corn, can produce cobs even in part shade and low fertility. Also it’s quite early and has made a crop when planted the first week of August in Ky.

Our favorite for hominy, the flavor isn’t really like the flour corn you’re used to, it’s rich and nutty and absolutely delicious

8-14 straight rows. Cob length 6-10 inches. Quite a bit of variation in the landrace
