This is the perilla you want if you want perilla. There is an invasive perilla (the red one) which has a green form as well and having grown this for over a decade in kentucky, this one has never crossed with the invasive type. Superior culinary qualities

This perilla grows tall, 5-6ft, with large 6in heart shaped tender leaves without the bitterness of other perillas. It self seeds mildly like dill.
