Grape, Hardy Muscadine

These are particularly hardy true muscadine grapes, collected by my father from the wild many years ago. Planted in Murray Kentucky, they’ve never been damaged by the cold.

Muscadines, unlike most grapes we’re used to, are dioecious, meaning you need both a male and female. We can produce small numbers of cuttings of either type, but in this listing we’re offering seed. Just make sure you save enough to get a female, most of the wild muscadines you’ll find are male and won’t make fruit.

Fruit are more tart than vinifera with very thick skins. Make excellent pies and jelly and wine with chaptalization. Not naturally high in sugars.
