Tepary Bean, Landrace

$4.00

An unusual (at least to our part of the world) and underappreciated phaseolus species, tepary beans are quite productive here.

Growing on thin wispy vines, these beans are the most drought tolerant in the world, having been grown for centuries in the southwestern deserts.

Beans are smaller, though plentiful in comparison to P. vulgaris, and in my opinion not as tasty, although not bad by any means, but perhaps this is better suited as a crop to hedge your bets if for whatever reason vulgaris do poorly.

As a green bean they’re very stringy and the pods are thin like a snow pea, otherwise quite good.
